Teaching Faith That Forms Real Lives

Prayer With Bible

What We Teach

  • We teach in an approachable, engaging, and transformative way, helping people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus.

  • We teach that the narrative of Scripture and its central themes reach their culmination in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and in the subsequent gift of the Holy Spirit.

  • We teach Scripture with careful attention to its original context and purpose, translating its meaning responsibly into clear English for today.

  • We teach that a relationship with Jesus and the Bible go hand in hand, encouraging us to embark on a transformative journey—not merely to acquire new knowledge, but to develop character and attain divine wisdom for living.

  • We teach that the Bible is a collection of ancient Jewish literature, rich in literary artistry, designed to unfold its meanings through a lifetime of repeated reading and reflection.

  • We teach that Scripture is intended to be explored and interpreted within a community that seeks to live out its narratives together.

  • We teach with kids in mind—creating a shared learning environment where kids are taken seriously, adults are challenged, and nobody hides behind jargon.

  • We confess the Nicene Creed
as the historic boundary of our teaching.

What We Believe

  • We believe that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that Jesus came to rescue humanity by living and dying for the world’s sins.

  • We believe that Jesus was raised from the dead on our behalf.

  • We believe the words of the Bible were inspired by God and written by humans to share God’s truth and wisdom in order to teach humanity how to live well by following Jesus.

  • We believe the Sermon on the Mount is Jesus’ guide to entering and living in the Kingdom of Heaven—something that becomes more joyful and far more life-changing when lived and learned together by young and old.

  • We believe the Bible, when read carefully and honestly, sheds unique light on our path in a dark world in a way nothing else does.

We believe every human effort is flawed, including the founding of the First Savvy Church of Christ. Even so, we trust that many will find in FSCC a more faithful representation of the Word of God, through which they may hear Jesus' invitation to walk with Him.

What We Do Not Teach

  • We do not teach denominational systems or inherited traditions as the foundation of faith.
    Jesus is the foundation.

  • We do not teach Scripture through isolated verses taken out of context, nor do we reshape it to fit cultural trends or preferences.
